Hunting Licenses
Resident and nonresident New York State hunting licenses are available through the Town Clerk's office. Information about license types, eligibility, fees, and required hunter safety education is available on the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) website.

 

Fishing Licenses
Most people who want to fish in New York State need a New York fishing license.  These are available to residents and nonresidents through the Town Clerk's office.  Information about license types, eligibility, and fees is available on the NYS DEC website.

Certain circumstances require other licenses or permits in addition to a New York fishing license:

  • Recreational Marine Fishing Registry Registration (available through Town Clerk's office) 
    Needed to fish for saltwater species or "migratory fish of the sea" in certain locations.  More information on the NYS DEC website.  No charge.
     
  • Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Access Permit (available online from the New York City DEP)
    Needed for fishing in New York City watershed recreation areas, including the Amawalk, Cross River, and New Croton Reservoirs.  See the DEP fishing brochure for more information.  No charge.
     
  • Trinity Lake permit (available only to Pound Ridge Residents through the Recreation Department)
    Needed for access to Trinity Lake. Contact the Recreation Department for more information.  No charge.
