Volunteers

The Town of Pound Ridge is a vibrant community built on a strong spirit of volunteerism. Serving on a board, commission, or committee is a rewarding way for residents to contribute to the Town’s growth while connecting with others.

Residents interested in learning more about local government are encouraged to attend public meetings, listed on the Town’s monthly calendar (here), and share their insights. Those ready to take a more active role can explore current vacancies and find opportunities to get involved below.

If you have a dog over four months old living in your home, New York State law requires you to obtain a license from the municipal clerk in your town.  You can apply for a new license or renew an existing one either by mail or in person at the Town House on weekdays between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm.  Licensing fees may be paid by cash or check (payable to "Town of Pound Ridge").

PFAS

Recently, some private wells tested in Pound Ridge have revealed the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly referred to as "forever chemicals," in their drinking water at levels exceeding both State and EPA standards. This occurrence is not exclusive to Pound Ridge, as PFAS contamination has been detected in public and private water systems across the nation.
