Motor Equipment Operator
The Town of Pound Ridge is seeking to fill one (1) full-time position for Motor Equipment Operator in the Highway Department. This is a non-competitive class position, but the successful candidate must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Westchester County Department of Human Resources (see below).
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates an excavator, heavy duty paving roller, backhoe, front end loader, bulldozer, sweeper, road grader and other types of heavy equipment;
- Operates heavy duty trucks, or trailer trucks in connection with the transporting or collection of large quantities of materials or heavy duty supplies;
- Plows snow, and is available for call-in to plow snow during the winter months;
- Performs manual labor, such as assisting in the loading of trucks, digging, cleaning culverts, assists and performs related work with the road maintenance crew;
- Makes minor repairs and assists in clearing automotive equipment;
- Must be available for afterhours call-in and must respond within a reasonable time;
- Performs additional duties, as directed by the Highway Superintendent, and/or Foreman.
Minimum Qualifications: At time of appointment, the candidate must at least be in possession of a valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver’s License, certified to operate commercial equipment within the boundaries of New York State with required endorsements.
This is a Teamster’s Union covered position. The starting hourly rate for this position will be $41.39. Additional benefit information is dictated by the collective bargaining agreement.
