Police Department Press Release - Unlicensed Contractor Arrest

After a lengthy investigation into consumer fraud, the Pound Ridge Police Department reports the arrest of Gabino "Rudy" Soriano of Larchmont, New York, for operating a home improvement business without a license within the County of Westchester, under the Westchester Consumer Protection  Code. The Westchester County Consumer Protection Code states that "No person shall maintain, conduct, advertise, operate or engage in a home improvement business within the County of Westchester or hold him or herself out as being able to do so, unless such person is licensed".

The Pound Ridge Police Department received a complaint from a resident that a contractor working at their residence for a couple of months and discovered that he was unlicensed . The resident reported that the contractors work was substandard and cost the resident in excess of $100,000 for the work he had completed and the cost of demolition. An investigation done by the Pound Ridge Police, with the assistance of the Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection, found that the contractor, Gabino Soriano of Soriano Carpentry & Remodeling, did work at the complainant's residence without being licensed with the

Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection. The investigation also revealed that there was a prior history of complaints against Gabino Soriano with the Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection. The defendant, Gabino Soriano surrendered himself to the Pound Ridge Police Department on March

27, 2017, without incident. Gabino Soriano received an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Pound Ridge Court on April 17, 2017. The Pound Ridge Police Department request that anyone having dealt with Gabino Soriano to please notify the Westchester County Department of Consumer Affairs.
